Stewie’s Global Forest

When Stewie died, several trees were planted in his memory or dedicated to him via different organisations working to nurture and preserve essential woodlands, and support global communities and wildlife. Trees grow in his name from the UK to Ghana and New Zealand, and his ‘Global Forest’ will keep on growing as we mark special occasions and milestones every year.

Having trees planted in memory of our loved ones is such a beautiful gesture as its impact lasts well beyond our lifetimes, and contributes to protecting and restoring the environment, as well as supporting food security. We’re so grateful that our family began such a meaningful legacy for him.

Stewie’s Global Forest map, below, will be continually updated to keep a record of his legacy over the years. Clicking on each pin will show details of all of the trees that grow in his memory, and who they were dedicated by.

This photo of Adam and I was taken by our wedding photographer Dominika Miechowska in our local (on our doorstep) woods before we finally got married in 2021, just over a year before Stewie was born. We were so looking forward to all of the woodland adventures he would have had, learning all about nature on our doorstep – probably by eating a lot of mud, leaves and insects. Whilst we’ll never get to share these adventures with him, we’re grateful that his Global Forest legacy feels like such a special connection to the woodlands he would have grown up beside.

The green pins on Stewie’s map represent his trees, and the yellow bonus pins show his travels – all of the places he visited with us during our pregnancy. There were quite a few (in 6 countries + home in the UK) considering I found out I was pregnant on an overseas work trip just a week before we left for a 2 month travelling adventure!
